Lay Helper Program

The Lay Helper Program is service provided by the Gerholz Center for Christian Counseling, a ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint.  The Lay Helper Program provides compassionate support through caring relationships that offer encouragement, hope, and a listening ear to individuals navigating life's challenges. Although Lay Helpers do not provide professional counseling, they receive comprehensive training to offer emotional and spiritual support.  Through these meaningful relationships, Lay Helpers help advance the Gerholz Center's mission of promoting healing, resilience, and connection throughout our community.
